Why Drinking Water is the Key to Great Health
Drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your health. Part of a healthy life style is constant re-hydration. Your body is 60 -70 percent water so it needs to be well hydrated in order to perform at its peak and carry out basic functions of life. Water
transfers nutrients to your cells, provides the necessary environment
for your brain and other vital organs to work properly, helps regulate
temperature, helps maintain your joints, and is the main component of
your life-sustaining blood.
Signs of Dehydration
You
need water way before you ever feel thirsty. In fact, if your urine is
a bright yellow color it is a very good sign that your are dehydrated
(though some B vitamins will make your urine bright yellow). Other
signs include random mussel aches, and lower back pain. These are all
signs of mild dehydration.
How Much Water Should You Drink?
Well
that's a great question. Take your body weight, divide it in half, and
that is how many ounces of water you should drink in a day. Example: If
you weigh 200 pounds you should drink 100 oz of water a day. If you are
not sure how much you should drink, shoot for a gallon a day. It should always be room-temperature (not cold) because it's much easier for your body to process. Sometimes
it's difficult for people with very busy lifestyles to get enough
water, and if you're active it's even harder because you lose more
water when you sweat. But the best method is to always carry a bottle
of water with you and make sure that you keep track of what you drink.
It may be challenging at first (and will involve several trips to the restroom!) but if you persist, you'll see the results. By the way, for those of you thinking any fluid will hydrate you, think again. WATER is the best thing you can drink! Soda contains a lot of sugar and added calories that you do not need. In fact, soda further dehydrates you because of the caffeine it contains.
Water is Good Health
When you drink plenty of water you're doing your body a great favor by staying properly hydrated.
You skin looks great and your body is able to run at it best. You have
less pain, headaches and are able to regulate your temperature for your
active, healthy lifestyle. Water is one of the basic keys to a
healthier you!
